Nanook Lodge
Open from March through October each year, Nanook Lodge accomodates up to 18 guests at a time. Many groups rebook for the coming year, so contact us soon about our availability.
All fishing packages include boat, guide, tackle, rain gear, bait, three meals per day and double occupancy lodging. Private rooms feature queen size beds, private baths and showers, hot tub, satellite television and many other amenities. Seaplanes from Seattle, U.S. and Vancouver, B.C. are available. Water taxis from Campbell River, B.C., too.
Adventure Tours
Whether you view the whales in a guide boat or hike the many natural trails, the Stuart Island region will provide all the wildlife adventure you want. Help your guides as they harvest clams, oysters, crabs, prawns and mussels.
From Nanook Lodge you can hike 45 minutes to Eagle Lake or take the full two-day climb to the top of nearby Mt. Estero. At 5,400 feet above sea level, the view is spectacular.
Salmon Enhancement Program
Beginning in August, Nanook Lodge spearheads the recovery of giant Chinook salmon on the Phillips River. This effort supports the neighboring fish hatchery and allows you to “put something back” into the B.C. ecosystem. The Phillips River area is home to grizzly bears, black bears, eagles, wolves, deer, elk and moose. Truly the outdoor person’s dream come true.
Meals
The lodge features the cooking of Stuart Island’s most noted chef. A healthy breakfast is provided before you head out to meet the day. Light lunches are packed prior to your departure. Lunches are eaten either onboard your boat or onshore. Enjoy fresh seafood or other menus you may request.
Transportation
All guests arrive at Nanook Lodge via seaplane from Seattle or Vancouver, B.C., or by water taxi from Campbell River, B.C. The lodge can help you coordinate your arrangements between these three locations and Stuart Island.
